A new Era; Exploring the Fascinating B.C First Peoples Classes of Sutherland Secondary

           Th is y ear Sutherland Secondary was  introduced to Indigenous education . One of those new courses was  B.C First Peoples , a course that focused on the relationship between  Indigenous peoples and colonizers from th e 1700’s to today. The main points highlighted were about the injustices shown towards the Indigenous, and what must be d one to make amends. These lessons were taught through lectures, videos, and text from both perspectives to provide students with a complete idea of how a situation was approached. With these lessons come a goal to remind all Canadians about the truth , the 94 calls of action , and the history of the settled land s .              Students Nima Dini and Oliver Crook took it upon the mselves to visit one of the B.C First Peoples teachers located in  the D wing , Mr. Chaddock .  Mr. Chaddock conveyed great excitement in being a part of history, whilst simultaneously valuing the role given to him in influencing the future generati
